POST LUGO: A Note from the Producer
A NOTE FROM THE PRODUCER
TO THE AMAZING CROWD The first LUGO was an amazing success, with a sold out show bringing together such a diverse range of people from communities all around the city! My enormous thanks to all of you, not only for coming out to the show, but to interacting with the performers, writing Haiku’s for our poetry wall, and making this event truly unique and memorable. Be sure to post your photos and videos here and share your experiences! Let us know what you thought!
TO THE MENDEL I want to say a special thank you to Susan Williams, Executive Director and CEO Vince Varga and all the Mendel staff. It took tremendous faith, vision, and hard work to open the Mendel’s doors to such a range of art communities throughout the city and host this amazing gathering. Interrupting the installation of the next exhibition is a major feat, and throughout the entire event, they only displayed enthusiasm and gratitude.
TO THE PERFORMERS AND TECHNICAL CREW A huge thank you. From the cardboard puppet show by The Band Known as Seawater Bliss, to the dance performances by Free Flow Dance, the Bearded Lady, Amazon Woman, and Siamese Twins directed by Kristen Holfeuer, Andrei Feheregyhazi’s amazing short film, Gillian Snider, Darcy Burback and Sam Mitchell (as Krishna), soprano Anastasia Winterhalt, RM 143 from Mount Royal, Yann Martel, and Alice Kuipers, Ryan Walker, DJ Mikhail Polischuk, and VJ Meredith LaRocque—I am in awe of the work and creativity you put into this event!
WHAT NOW?
The Mendel’s next exhibition opens this Friday and I’m so excited! It sounds like a really interesting show that the LUGO crowd would definitely appreciate. So make it back to the Mendel for the opening reception this Friday.
Yann Martel collected a list of book suggestions for the Prime Minister at LUGO, and some folks have mentioned that they want to see the list! Visit http://www.whatisstephenharperreading.ca/ to see all of Yann’s book suggestions, as well as the letter he wrote during LUGO.
We’ll be posting our own photos and videos, and some of the Haikus that were composed at LUGO on our website and facebook page. So please continue to visit us, share your photos
Until we meet again,
Carrie Catherine
